Thursday marks the 42nd anniversary of the introduction of “One Country, Two Systems.” The investment and business expansion of Hong Kong enterprises in the mainland have contributed to the evolution of Hong Kong into an international financial, commerce and transportation center. It has also helped expand the scope of Hong Kong’s professional services. The principle provides the fundamental guarantee for the development of democracy in Hong Kong.
CGTN interviewed residents in Hong Kong to find out how the successful practice has affected them. Ngan Manyu, a member of the Legislative Council of the Democratic Alliance for the Betterment and Progress of Hong Kong, said that since the implementation of “One Country, Two Systems,” the flow of personnel and funds between Hong Kong and the mainland has been increasing, and Hong Kong’s society has continued to develop and become more stable.
