For more than 30 years now, Zhen Chunhui from southeast China’s Fujian Province has dedicated himself to the art of Putian woodcarving. But to him this is an art that’s about so much more than simply crafting wood. In his hands, it becomes the living embodiment of Chinese tradition, each knife-cut imbuing his works with Chinese classical poetry and the beauty of the landscape of the country he loves.
