In Laos, Cambodia, and Vietnam there remain legacies of the Vietnam War. From the jungles, rivers, to the rural countryside, to burgeoning cities there remain unseen dangers, buried beneath the soil. Many of the weapons the U.S. military used in the Vietnam War are still injuring and even killing people each year, in the form of unexploded ordnance, or UXOs. The people of Laos, Cambodia and Vietnam are working to remove these hidden dangers. Half a century later, the people of these countries are still rebuilding their lives, rebuilding their communities. The scars of the past are not forgotten, nor will they ever be.
