China and France mark the 60th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations in 2024. The New Franco-Chinese Institute, inaugurated in 2014 following Chinese President Xi Jinping’s visit to the French city of Lyon, enjoys historical ties with China dating back to the 17th century. Alain Labat, the vice president of the institute, noted that the city’s historical links with China are unique in Europe.
